Campbell, 43, Niagara Falls operating manager the International Railway company, known transportation authority and former United States Marine corps officer, died at 11:30 o'clock Monday night in Memorial hospital. He underwent an appendectomy Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the First Presbyterian church with the Rev. Albertus C. Van Raalte, minister, officiating.

Burial will be in Riverdale cemetery. Mr. Campbell's death occurred the night of the Niagara Falls Hotel assocation's seventh annual ball of which he was general chairman. His activities in connection with preparations for the event, held in the Hotel Niagara, were cut short by his illness last week. Mr.

Campbell's home is at 531 Third street where he lived with his wife, Jean Campbell, who survives him, Born in Tennessee. Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin L. Campbell of Louisville, and a sister, Mrs.

McCrey, of Fairfield, Ala. Mr. Campbell born Nov. 18. 1890 in Prospect, Tenn.

1908 he entered the employ of the Louisville Nashville Railway company as a feight clerk. Within a few years he became a chief clerk. In 1912 he entered the service of the Illinois tral railroad at Birmingham, Ala. A year later Mr. Campbell joined the Marine corps in which he served six years, rising to captain.

He resigned in 1919. Mr. Campbell for a time had jurisdiction over railway operations in Vera Cruz, Port au Prince and Santo Domingo. Leaving the Marine corps Mr. Campbell became associated with the Washington Terminal company as a switchman and soon was advanced to vardmaster.

He became connected with the I. R. C. in 1922. He went to Lockport as I.

R. C. freight conductor, later becoming superintendent. Advanced Rapidly. Rapid advancement followed.

He was promited to district manager of lines at Lockport and in 1927 succeeded Robert E. Larkin, resigned, as operating manager, of interurban lines. He also served as freight traffic manager for the I. R. C.

Later, Mr. Campbell was promoted to the post he held at the time of his death. During the period of his I. R. C.

association he supervised operation of the Buffalo and Niagara Falls high speed line, the Buffalo, Lockport and Olcott service and the street railway service in Lockport and Niagara Falls. He also supervised transportation on the Falls View bridge. Niagara Falls, and the Queenston-Lewiston bridge. Mr. Campbell was a member of Niagara Falls Rotary club and Chamber of Commerce and recently was elected president of the Central Railway club of Buffalo.

He was also a member of Buffalo consistory, Ismailia shrine, of Buffalo, B. P. O. E. of Niagara Falls, Niagara club.

PATROLMAN SHERLOCK IS CLAIMED BY DEATH Stricken suddenly ill last Friday morning, Patrolman Patrick J. Sherlock died at Sisters' hospital shortly before 8 o'clock Monday evening after an emergency operation. Patrolman Sherlock was 55 years and lived at 53 Arkansas street. He had been a member of the Police department since July 1, 1908.

His birthplace was in Kings county, Ireland. Mr. Sherlock came to America when a young man, settling in Buffalo and joining the Fire department. Within a short time he transferred to the Police department. He had served in the West Delavan avenue station, and at the time of his death was attached st.

to the Delaware Park sub-station, where he had been assigned for years. He was a member of the Buffalo Police Mutual Aid and Benefit association, the Erie club, and the Holy Name Society of the Church of the Nativity. Patrolman Sherlock is survived by: his widow, Mrs. Nellie A. Sherlock; three sons, John Harry and Vincent T.
