Faculty & Staff "How to Register"

Participation in the program is completely voluntary. Before registering for the program, read this notice on participation. You are also able to review how Ohio State and our partner Virgin Pulse keeps your data private.

If you recently became a benefit-eligible employee but have been participating in the program as a spouse in another employee’s Ohio State medical plan, you do not need to register a new account. Please contact Virgin Pulse by emailing osusupport@virginpulse.com or calling (833) 556-6287 to let them know about your status change. They will make adjustments to your account so that you can log in and retain the points/activities you previously earned.

Step 1: Register

The first step is to register your account.Use yourname.#@osu.edu through single-sign-on to register atjoin.virginpulse.com/osu.

Multi-factor Authentication – asecond layer of security, using BuckeyePass, is needed to access Virgin Pulse.BuckeyePass service is powered by Duo Security, a proven solution in multi-factor authentication.

Once you have registered your account, you can then download the Virgin Pulse app for Android or iOS.

Step 2: Set up Account

You can begin earning points just for setting up your account for the first time, setting goals, and adding friends. To learn what points are available view the full list here or see highlights below.

Step 3: Get Healthy, Earn Rewards

Earn a Premium Credit

Enrolled faculty and staff can earn a $25/month premium credit, or up to $40/month with an enrolled spouse, off of employee medical plan contributions by completing aPersonal Health and Well-being Assessment (PHA)and averified Biometric Screeningto earn premium credit.

  • To reduce your cost for health care and receive the full premium credit for 2025, complete the PHA and biometric screening verification by December 31, 2024.
  • NEW HIRES: If you were newly hired, became eligible for benefits in 2024 OR missed the 2023 deadline, you have the opportunity to begin earning premium credit once you complete the PHA and screening.
    • Once you complete both, the PHA and screening, you will begin to see the premium credit applied to your pay within 30 days. It will be listed as a “Benefit Credit” in your pay summary. If you are receiving the employee and spouse credit, the total you’re receiving will be combined on one line.
    • This credit will be applied prospectively, until the end of the calendar year AND through the duration of the 2025 calendar year while you’re enrolled in an Ohio State medical plan.

Earn Points for Healthy Activities

During the program year (January through December), participants have many opportunities to earn points every day when tracking healthy habits and behaviors,which can quickly accumulate to help you complete up to four incentive levels, each quarter.

Earn Rewards

As you advance through the incentive levels each quarter, you earn rewards.If you’re enrolled in an Ohio State medical plan, you can earn premium credit, Health Reimbursem*nt Account (HRA) credits and PulseCash. Employees who are eligible for Ohio State benefits but not enrolled in an Ohio State medical plan can earn PulseCash.

The rewards you earn are dependent upon your medical plan enrollment status reflected in the YP4H portal at the time you reach each incentive level. New hires are encouraged to enroll or decline medical coverage prior to earning incentives in the Yp4H program.

Spouses "How to Register"


Spouses must be covered on the medical plan and are only eligible to register and participate once enrollment becomes active. For example, if you elect spousal medical coverage during open enrollment, your spouse will not be able to begin participating until 1/1 when coverage actually begins. Please Note: Ohio State employees CANNOT complete any of these registration steps or enter information in the Virgin Pulse portal/app on behalf of their spouse.

Step 1: Register as an OSU User

Ohio State Employees: Go to Step 2, you are already registered via Single-Sign-On(name.#@osu.edu).

Non-OSU Employees: If you are a returning spouse with a YP4H account proceed to Step 2. If you have never used YP4H, register first with LinktoHealth using the steps below.

  • Go to linktohealth.osu.edu
  • Select “New User Registration”
  • You will need your medical card, insurance id number, and date of birth to register
  • After you complete registration you will be able to use “Returning User” when prompted

Step 2: Register for BuckeyePass/DUO

BuckeyePass is a multifactor authentication service that provides a second layer of security to your account. In order to authenticate, it requires something you know (your password) and something you have (a mobile device or phone). Our BuckeyePass service is powered by Duo Security, a proven solution in multifactor authentication. OSU employees will utilize their already set up BuckeyePass accounts and Non-OSU employees will set up a new account with DUO security.

OSU Employees:Visit BuckeyePass.osu.edu to enroll/manage your account. OSU employees use single-sign-on (name.#@osu.edu)to activate your BuckeyePass access to VirginPulse.

Non-OSU Employees: To utilize the new Duo Security system you will need to first register to do so. When registering, please do so from a laptop or desktop computer. This guide will walk you through the process.Start by visiting theLinkToHealth site to register or log in.

Step 3: Register for Virgin Pulse

OSU Employees: You can use yourname.#@osu.eduthrough single-sign-on to register atjoin.virginpulse.com/osu.

Non-OSU Employees:Use the email address and password you created through LinkToHealth and register atvirginpulse.com/osu.

Once you have activated your VirginPulse account, you can then download the Virgin Pulse app forAndroid oriOS and use the password and email address you set up during the registration process.

Step 4: Complete the PHA and a Verified Biometric Screening

Spouse Account Access FAQs

How do I reset my password or username?
You will need your insurance ID card information to complete a username or password reset. Visit LinktoHealth, complete your identification step and then follow the reset steps found in the autogenerated email.

How do I reset my email address?
If you no longer have access to the email account you originally used to register for LinktoHealth/Your Plan for Health, you will need to contact OSUHP Customer Service by phone, who can reset this on your behalf. 614-292-4700 or 800-678-6269
