Greenwich parkrun #694 29th June 2024

Run Director: Lisa Cartwright

Halfway through the year, and a sunny morning greeted the 242 runners, joggers and walkers who joined us at Avery Hill Park this week. That included 34 first timers, with 11 of those taking part in their first ever event – welcome!

Milestones
Regular run director Colin Mackenzie reached his 400th parkrun today – 387 of those here at Greenwich. Dominic Smyth and John Walker both reached 100 runs and their black T-shirt today, and the trio of Lucas Bartlett, Sam Haggar and Frances Greenall their purple 25 T-shirts. Well done all!

Personal Bests
31 people chose today to achieve a Personal Best – well done to everyone! Of those, a special mention to the following regulars at Greenwich, where clearly PB streaks or repeat-PBs are a theme. Can they all do the same next week?
· Junior Caitlin Mendelsohn has run 29 parkruns at Greenwich, improving on her last PB in May by 35 seconds
· Haamiyah Stone-Drake has run 31 parkruns, with 28 here at Avery Hill, and this has been a year for PBs, with this her 10th of the year
· All 79 of Hendricks Abrokwah’s parkruns have been at Greenwich, and this was his second consecutive PB by 2 seconds!
· Junior Miriam Melanie Heinemann is now on a 4-week PB streak, beating last week’s time by 6 seconds. Can she do the same again next week?
· Nicolas Van De Rijt has run 20/21 parkruns at Greenwich, and secured a top 10 finish this week with a new PB by 10 seconds from last June
· Paul Killalea’s 43 parkruns have included 36 at Avery Hill, with this week’s run 23 seconds faster than last week’s PB
· Paul Owens has run 106 times here, and this week was his 7th PB of the year, taking off almost 4 minutes this year alone
· Philip Mendelsohn has been a regular at Avery Hill almost every week since he started parkrunning in September last year, and this was his 3rd PB of June alone, more than a minute faster than 2 weeks ago
· Stephen Porter is another parkrunner who has run only at Greenwich, and achieved a first PB since last July, improving on that time by 9 seconds
Junior Will Croft is on a PB streak this year, racking up his 8th PB of 2024, and 6 seconds from last week’s PB.

First Finishers
Parkrun is a run, not a race, but we do always like to celebrate the first three men and women finishers each week in the run report, who were as follows this week:
